& How To Make An Amazing Argument For One…
Ladies, we all work hard! Whether you’re single, married, a mom, or multiple roles, we put in some long hours. Why not create a space to unwind and find your center? I’m going to make an argument for why you deserve a she-shed.
If you’re not familiar with the term “she-shed”, let me tell you the glorious news! A “she-shed” is the ladies version of a “man cave”. It’s a space created to relax, pursue a hobby, read, whatever your heart desires, but here’s the catch…it’s in peace. That elusive five-letter word can be a reality! So, how do we mastermind a coupe on space and the chaos life brings? You’ve come to the right blog.
Reason #1: Sanity and mental wholeness
In today’s world, it is go, go, go! Having a space to stop and center one’s self is important. According to the CDC, “1 in 3 adults don’t get enough sleep”. The American Institute of Stress says, 77% Percent of people who regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress. 73% Regularly experience psychological symptoms caused by stress. People that feel they are living with extreme stress, 33 %. With all the stressors in life, it is important to take care of one’s self. Creating a place for this special purpose can really help you alleviate stress. Being in a she-shed, out in nature, can alleviate that stress. Time magazine did a piece on, “What Green Spaces Can Do to Your Mood.” They stated that “scientists have shown that nature can provide stress relief, increase social interaction, encourage physical exercise and even help soothe mental illness. You know what they say in the pre-flight safety demos, always put on your air mask before helping others. A space that you unwind in, can decrease the stress.
Reason #2: You deserve time for yourself
“Women worldwide spend an average of 4.5 hours each day on unpaid work: cooking, cleaning, feeding the baby. Men devote about half that much time, according to the OECD.
In the United States, women now financially support 40 percent of homes and tend to take on more domestic chores,” according to the Washington Post. We don’t always need to carry the workload. Learn to share the responsibilities and insert time to yourself.
Reason #3: A place to actively seek happiness and wellness
A she-shed can provide a place to actively seek the things you enjoy like knitting, meditation, pursuing a hobby, reading, etc. Whatever brings you joy, create a space for it. It’s good for your health too! Psychologist Pressman found, “When examined, pleasurable activities impact our wellbeing, they found that enjoyable leisure activities are associated with lower blood pressure, smaller waist circumference, and a lower body mass index. People also feel better physically and are less likely to be depressed.” Psychology Today’s article states that data shows when you pursue hobbies it can make you successful, protect the brain from illnesses later in life, and improve your physiology.
